Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to develop a valid and reliable scale to measure eight key competencies in the curriculum. The study was conducted with secondary school teachers working in Mardin province and its districts by using the descriptive survey method. Expert opinion was sought for the five-point Likert-type scale consisting of eight competency areas and 86 items. Exploratory factor analysis was applied to 444 data to test the construct validity of the scale, and two items were eliminated using the varimax rotation method. In order to test the accuracy of the structure, first level confirmatory factor analysis was applied to 640 data and the resulting model fit indices were examined. It was found that the model fit indices were at the levels of perfect fit and acceptable fit. To determine the reliability of the scale, the Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficients of the competence areas were calculated. As a result of all analyzes, it was concluded that this study is valid and reliable enough as 8 different scales in terms of measuring eight key competencies in the curriculum. It has been suggested that scales can be used in studies to be conducted on the subject.
