talıklarına bağlı ölümlerden sonra ikinci sırada yer almaktadır. Kanser, morbidite ve mortaliteye neden olması nedeniyle ciddi bir sorun olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Dünyada ve ülkemizde kanser epidemiyolojisini araştıran birçok çalışma olmasına rağmen halen bazı bölgelerde yeterli veri yoktur. Bu araştırma, Afyonkarahisar bölgesindeki onkoloji polikliniğine başvuran kanser hastalarının demografik değişkenlerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. GEREÇ VE YÖNTEM: Tanımlayıcı ve retrospektif nitelikteki bu araştırmaya Afyon Kocatepe Üniversitesi Hastanesi Tıbbi Onkoloji polikliniğine Nisan 2012 – Haziran 2015 arasında başvuran 2201 kanser hastası dahil edildi. BULGULAR: Hastaların 1101’inin (%50) erkek, 1100’ünün (%50) kadın, yaş ortalamasının 60 olduğu görüldü. Tüm hastalardaki sigara içme oranı 1312 (%59.6) iken içmeyenlerin oranı 889 (%40.6) idi. Çalışmaya alınan tüm hastalarda görülen en sık 5 kanser türü sırasıyla şu şekildeydi akciğer kanseri 469 (%21.3), meme kanseri 447 (%20.3), kolorektal kanser 373 (%16.9), mide kanseri 193 (%8.8), over kanseriydi. 70 (%3.2). Kadınlarda en sık 5 kanser türü meme 443 (%40.3), kolorektal 153 (%13.9), akciğer 81 (%7.4), mide 75 (%6.8), over 70 kanseriydi (%6.4). Erkeklerde görülen en sık 5 kanser türü ise akciğer 388 (%35.2), kolorektal 220 (%20), mide 118 (%10.7), prostat 58 (%5.3), pankreas 35(%3.2) kanseri idi. SONUÇ: Çalışmamızda Afyon Kocatepe Üniversitesi İç Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı Onkoloji polikliniğine kanser tanısıyla başvuran hastalarda kanser türleri, sıklığı, metastaz oranları ve diğer özellikler bakımında ülkemiz ve dünya verileri ile benzer oranlar izlenmiştir.

This study was conducted in order to identify demographic variables of cancer patients who apply to the oncology clinic in the Afyonkarahisar region. This investigation of the identificative and retrospective quality included 2201 cancer patients applicing to the Medical Oncology Clinic of the Afyon Kocatepe University Hospital between April 2012 and June 2015. 1101 of the patients (50%) were men, 1100 (50%) women, and the average age was 60. The percentage of smoking in all patients was 1312 (59.6%) while the percentage of non-smoking was 889 (40.6). The 5 most common types of cancer in all the patients surveyed were, respectively, lung cancer 469 (21.3%), breast cancer 447 (20.3%) and colon cancer 373 (16.9%), stomach cancer 193 (8.8%), over cancer. 70 (3.2% of the total number of people). The 5 most common types of cancer in women were breast 443 (%40.3), colorectal 153 (%13.9), lungs 81 (%7.4), stomach 75 (%6.8), over 70 cancers (%6.4). The 5 most common types of cancer in men were lung cancer 388 (%35.2), colorectal 220 (%20), stomach cancer 118 (%10.7), prostate cancer 58 (%5.3), pancreas cancer 35 (%3.2). Results: In our study, patients who apply for cancer diagnosis to the Oncology Clinic of the Department of Internal Diseases of the University of Afyon Kocatepe have been monitored by rates similar to our country and world data in terms of cancer types, frequency, metastasis rates and other characteristics.

Although there are many studies investigating cancer epidemiology in the world and our country, there is still insufficient data in some regions. This study was conducted to determine the demographic variability of cancer patients admitted to an oncology outpatient clinic in the Afyonkarahisar region. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This descriptive and retrospective study included 2201 cancer patients admitted to the Medical Oncology Outpatient Clinic of Afyon Kocatepe University Hospital between April 2012 and June 2015. The five most common types of cancer seen in all patients included in the study were as follows; lung cancer 469 (21.3%), breast cancer 447 (20.3%), colorectal cancer 373 (16.9%), stomach cancer 193 (8.8%), ovarian cancer 70 (3.2%). The 5 most common types of cancer in women; breast 443 (40.3%), colorectal 153 (13.9%), lung 81 (7.4%), stomach 75 (6.8%), over 70 (6.4%). The 5 most common types of cancer seen in men are; lung 388 (35.2%), colorectal 220 (20%), stomach 118 (10.7%), prostate 58 (5.3%), the pancreas were 35 (3.2%). CONCLUSIONS: In our study, the rates of cancer types, metastasis rates and other characteristics were similar to those of our country and the world in patients admitted to the Oncology outpatient clinic of Afyon Kocatepe University Department of Internal Medicine.
