Bilgisayar ve Öğretim Teknolojileri Eğitimi (BÖTE) Bölümü 1998 senesinde açılmıştır. Ancak, yapılan akademik çalışmalar ve bilimsel etkinliklerde düzenlenen paneller bölüm ile ilgili bir takım güncel sorunlara işaret etmektedir. Bu çalışma son zamanlarda BÖTE alanında ortaya çıkan sorunlarla birlikte akademisyenlerce sıklıkla tartışılan bir takım konuları bilimsel araştırma çerçevesinde araştırarak durum çalışması yapmayı amaçlamaktadır. Araştırma BÖTE’de görev yapmakta olan ve doktora derecesine sahip 43 akademisyenin açık uçlu sorulara vermiş oldukları yanıtları kapsamaktadır. Yapılan analizler akademisyenlerin alana bakış açısını ortaya koymakta ve akademisyenlerin gözünden bölümde yaşanan sorunları ve bu sorunların nasıl çözülebileceğini göstermektedir. Çalışma, aynı zamanda, alanda görev yapmakta olan akademisyenlerin farklı görüşlere sahip olduğunu da ortaya koymaktadır. Görüş farklılıkları akademisyenlerin farklı disiplinlerden geliyor olmalarıyla açıklanabilir.
The Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology (CEIT) was opened in 1998. However, published academic studies and the panel discussions at scientific events point to a number of current issues related to the department. This study aims to investigate these issues about the department in a scientific way. The study includes the answers given to open-ended questions by 43 scholars who work in CEIT and have a PhD degree. Data analysis showed the scientists' view of the field and revealed the problems and solutions from their perception. The study also indicated how scholars' perspectives about the field differed although they work in the same department. It seems usual though in such a field where scholars come from different disciplines.
