Abstract:

The words of Prophet Mohammed, the most authorized person to interpret the Quran, contain much information about different subjects like worshipping, dealing and transaction, etc. However, it also comprises information about the end of the world and traditions about antichrist have an important place in it. In this article, the characteristics of antichrist, the hardest provocation (fitna) at the end of the world, will be examined with the help of the hadith. In addition, interpretations of some hadith about antichrist will be mentioned as well. Main subjects like the number of antichrist, time and place of appearance, time he'll be on earth, how he causes death and gives life, how he cannot enter holy cities, the word non-believer written on his forehead, the hell and the paradise, the pile of bread as big as a mountain, his death etc, are handled with the help of traditions. Modern approachs to antichrist are also being mentioned in this article. The necessarity of science of metaphor for understanding the traditions about antichrist and the understanding some of the characteristics of the antichrist with modern information is being emphasized at the end of this article.
