Abstract:

Aim: Breast cancer is a deadly type of cancer that begins in breast tissue and its common in women. This study is a cross-sectional and descriptive research for the purpose of examining the health beliefs of women living in the Kars/Sarıkamış district about self-breast examination (BSE). Method: In this study, voluntary women who agreed to 01.03.2017-01.06.2017 participate in the study of the sampling method constituted a sample of the research (n=230). The questionnaire created by the researcher to obtain the data to be used in the research and the Champion's (HBMS) was used In the statistical evaluation of the data, the percentage, average, OneWay Anova, Kruskal Wallis Test and T-Test were used. Results: The average age of women included in the study is 30.54±9.21 years. The rate of the study was 35.2%, and the participants did not know how to make 64.8% and 24.3% of respondents. The average score of the participants received from the sub-groups of the Breast Cancer HBMS was determined to vary between 2.51±0.92 and 3.39±0.76. As a result of the research; socio-demographic characteristics and health beliefs related to breast cancer screening behaviour. Conclusion: According to the results of the research; In the studies aimed at early diagnosis of breast cancer, it is recommended to take into consideration the perceptions of health belief in the exhibition of early diagnosis behavior and to determine perceptions.
