Abstract:

Since the first half of the 19th century, the attention to the road construction in the Ottoman State has begun, and in the Black Sea region, a road that connects the interior parts to the beach has been scheduled. But in the construction of the road the priority was given to the Trabzon-Erzurum road and the Rize-Erzurum road remained in the background. The Rize-Erzurum road, which was re-treated with the Republican regime, was the stage of intense work, especially between the 1930s and 35s, but still did not find the necessary support. This study discussed how and when the Rize-Erzurum road was scheduled, the work on the road and the assistance on the road, the importance of the road for the Rizelians and the region. The process was evaluated from the second half of the 19th century to the 1950s. After 1950, the process will be the second part of the work. The work on this path is extremely important because both the construction took a very long time and the volunteer has found thousands of people.
