Abstract:

We can see the reaction of society to any issue in the periodical newspapers. That is why, a theme of “Independence of Azerbaijan in society of Turkey” has been studied in our research by preferring Jumhuriyyat, Hurriyyet and Terjuman newspapers. Because, the recognition of Azerbaijan by Turkey has not been a short process as everybodu thinks. One of the core goals of this work is to study how Turkish press saw thiat process, covering the   historcal span from January of 1991 to the end of December when Azerbaijan’s independence movement intensified.  In this study we see that there was little news in the Turkish Press about     Azerbaijan until the historical period of Spring of the 1991st year. As to mid-September, we see that the amount of news on Azerbaijan went up and most  of that was about terror acts committed by the armenian armed groups in the region of Nagorno Karabakh. We see that, until the end of the above mentioned year , the news regarding the collapse of the Soviet Union prevailed. Furthermore, the news on gaining independence of the states including in the USSR is often encountered. The news on the  independence of Azerbaijan is also often cast light on.  In this study, the process of  gaining independence by Azerbaijan, has comprehensively been followed and the regional situation of that period has also been investigated by the Turkish Press.
