Objective: Vitamins are organic compounds that are catalyze important reactions in the cell in very small amounts but are not made in the body. A healthy mother’s milk contains all the vitamins except for vitamin D. Vitamin D should be recommended to all newborn infants in order to prevent diseases resulting from vitamin deficiency. In this study we investigate the frequency of vitamin use in Yozgat.Material and Methods: Our subjects were the relatives of 750 patients aged 0-24 months who were brought to the Yozgat Birth and Children’s Hospital outpatient clinic.Results: Of the 750 patients, 352 (50.2%) had never used vitamins and 348 (49.7%) had used vitamins. The vitamin users were distributed as 158 (45.3%) users of multivitamin, 75 (21.5%) vitamin D, and 115 (33.2%) vitamin D and multivitamin. Vitamin use was regular in 228 (65.5%) and intermittent in 120 (34.4%) subjects. Half of the patients presenting at our clinic used vitamins, but only 65% used them regularly.conclusion: We found the use of vitamins to be low in Yozgat during the period of this study. Despite all the efforts in this regard, vitamin D deficiency and prophylaxis continue to be important issues
