Bu araştırmanın amacı, Hatay’da eğitimin geçirdiği aşamaları tarihi süreç içinde incelemektir. Bu çerçevede Hatay’da okulöncesi eğitimde, temel eğitimde, ortaöğretimde, mesleki-teknik öğretimde ve yükseköğretimde Cumhuriyet tarihi boyunca alınan mesafe ve gelinen nokta sayısal veriler eşliğinde ele alınmıştır. Bu çalışmada, betimsel araştırma türlerinden tarihi yöntem kullanılmıştır. Bu çalışmada Hatay ile ilgili nüfus ve eğitim verileri Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu istatistiklerinden, milli eğitim istatistiklerinden ve Boğaziçi Üniversitesi (http://egitimistatistikleri.com) web sayfasından elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen bu veriler okulöncesi, temel eğitim, ortaöğretim, mesleki-teknik öğretim ve yükseköğretim kurumlarında okul, öğretmen ve öğrenci durumları şeklinde kategorize edilmiştir. Çalışmada her eğitim basamağının öğretmen, öğrenci vb. sayısal verileri ele alınmıştır. Verilerde Hatay’ın anavatana katıldığı yıl olan 1939 temel ölçüt olmuş ve 2018’e kadar geçen süreç belirli yılların verileriyle desteklenmiştir. 1939’dan 2018’e geçen 80 yıllık dönemin genel bir fotoğrafı çekilmeye çalışılmıştır. Eğitimle ilgili veriler sunulurken Hatay’ın gelişiminde bir başka gösterge olan nüfus verileri ele alınmış ve değerlendirilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre, geçen 80 yıllık evrede Hatay’da tüm eğitim basamaklarında sayısal olarak büyük artışlar olduğu görülmüştür. Hatay’da tüm okul basamaklarında net okullaşma oranı genellikle Türkiye ortalaması ile paraleldir hatta bazı basamaklarda daha yüksektir. Hatay’daki okullaşma oranlarına bakıldığında okulöncesi eğitimde okullaşmanın Türkiye ortalamasının yaklaşık 15 puan üzerinde olduğu görülmektedir. İlkokul, ortaokul ve liselerdeki okullaşma oranları Türkiye ile paralellik içinde giderken, mesleki-teknik eğitimde ise Türkiye ortalamasının yaklaşık 2 puan altında kalmıştır. Bütün okul basamaklarında öğretmen ve öğrenci sayısındaki artış nüfus artışının çok üzerinde olmuştur. Öğretmen başına düşen öğrenci sayısında ciddi gelişme sağlanmıştır. Bu adımlar Hatay eğitimi adına olumlu süreçler olarak değerlendirilebilir. Elde edilen verilere göre Hatay eğitimi bazı basamaklarda Türkiye’ye örnek olabilecek verilere sahipken bazı basamaklarda Türkiye ortalamasının altındadır. Yapılacak yeni çalışmalarla Hatay eğitim tarihi pek çok yönüyle ve ayrıntılarıyla ele alınabilecektir.
Abstract The purpose of this research is to examine the process of education in Hatay throughout the history. In this context, research approaches to processes of pre-school education, primary education, middle school education, vocational and technical training and higher education through the republican history and their present situation. Historical descriptive method was used in the study. In this study, the population and education data related to Hatay were collected from the statistics of the Turkish Statistical Institute, national education statistics and Boğaziçi University (http://egitimistatistikleri.com) obtained from the web page. Data was categorized as school, teacher, student and student status in pre-school education, primary education, middle school education, vocational and technical training and higher education institutions. Qualitative data about teacher, student etc. was reviewed for every level in education. 1939, the year Hatay was joined to homeland, was taken as base year and was supported with the data of the process until 2018. The 80 years’ period since 1939 was tried to be pictured. While the data concerning education was projected, demographics, a related indicator in Hatay’s progress was also included into evaluation. According to findings, in past 80 years’ period, Hatay has shown significant increases quantitatively concerning education levels. The net schooling ratio in every level of education is parallel to the average of Turkey, even higher in some levels. When we look at the schooling rates in Hatay, it is seen that schooling in preschool education is about 15 points higher than the Turkish average. While the schooling rates in elementary schools, middle schools and high schools went in parallel with Turkey, they remained about 2 points below the Turkish average in vocational-technical education. The increase in the numbers of teachers and students in every level is higher than the growth of population. The number of students per teacher has shown a significant development. These steps could be evaluated as positive processes for the education of Hatay. According to the data obtained, Hatay education has data that can be an example for Turkey on some steps, while on some steps it is below the Turkish average. With the new studies to be carried out, the history of Hatay education will be able to be discussed in many aspects and details.
