Introduction: Fournier’s Gangrene is a life threatening, rapidly progressive surgical emergency with a high mortality rate even with early diagnosis and radical surgery. Aim: To get a retrospective analysis of the patients who had wide debridement and medical treatment for Fournier’s Gangrene in our clinic. Material and Methods: Four patients were evaluated retrospectively who had wide debridement and medical treatment for Fournier’s Gangrene in Haydarpafla Numune Hospital, 2nd General Surgery Clinic between 2003 and 2004. Results: Female to male ratio was 2/2 with a mean age of 72. Sigmoid loop colostomy + wide debridement + antibiotherapy was performed to all cases. Mortality rate was 50%. Remaining two cases had closure of colostomies after 10 weeks of treatment. Conclusion: Mortality rate increases when there is a delay for diagnosis and treatment in Fournier’s Gangrene. As seen in all of our patients, especially in the patients with fever, doing a thorough physical examination gives us an opportunity for early diagnosis and decreases the mortality rates.
