Abstract:

This study was planned as an experimental research in order to determine the impact of staridards of nursing care on the quality of care wearing to mechantcally ventilated newboms. This study has been conducted between the dates of 31 August, 1998-20 May. in 1999. Thirty newboms 15 control and 15 experimental group who were rnechanically ventilated in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Ege University Hospital cornposed the sample of the study. The study was started after getting of the permtsston from the Pediatri Department of the Ege University Medical Faculty. The data was collected by means of three form5 which were "Patient Questionnaire Form", "Standard Nursing Care Form", and "Evaluation Scaie of Outcome Criteria". Evaluation Seale of Outcor ne Criteria consists of 5 nursing diagnoses 1. Impaired Gas Exchange and lneffeetwe Airway Clearanee, 2. Fluid and Electrolyte Imbalance. Risk of infection 4. Inadequate Hygiene and lmpaired of Skin Integrity. Ineffectwe family coping with anxiety and their outcome criteria that illustrates tlıese diagnoses have been solved. The experimental group was treated by standard nursing care, control group was treated by cornrnon care runned by nurses. The result demonstrated that standard nursing care may provide many advantages on the port of the experimental group. However is. there has not been any statiseally significant difference conceming the outcome crileria for both groups p>0.05
