Abstract:

In this work we will focus on the possibility of radicalization of democracy in the context of Chantal Mouffe’s ‘Left Populist Strategy’. by Mouffe, 2. After the World War, the agonistic tension between democracy and liberalism was dispersed in a way that would be against democracy along with Thatcherism, and that the political changed its place with technocratic politics. Mouffe claims that the post-political asset, the consensus that destroys the differences between central right and central left policies, began to be questioned by the global financial crisis that exploded in 2008. Mouffe says the neoliberal crisis has created a 'populist moment' and claims that the neoliberal hegemony, through the opposition of the people and political elites, provides the opportunity for left-wing populism to interfere with the massacre in a right-wing populist form. Mouffe points out that left-wing populism is not an ideology, it is a political logic and strategy in the process of building a new anti-hegemony. He also rejects the pejorative literature, which, with a self-righteous approach, evaluates populism through anti-democracy. But Mouffe is criticized that the alternative to right-wing populism cannot be left-wing populism and that every populist model will result in a vertical democracy.
