Abstract:

Abstract The European Union and the Balkans are of great importance for Turkey. The EU is Turkey's most important trade partner and Bulgaria provides Turkey's access to this important market. In this respect, strengthening bilateral trade relations between Bulgaria and Turkey has an important place in Turkish foreign policy. Bulgaria, a neighboring country and a member of the European Union, caused an increase in trade both due to its proximity and the appreciation of the Bulgarian lev against the Turkish lira. According to TUIK data, a significant number of tourists came for shopping in the last few months. The aim of this study is to examine the commercial and political relations between Bulgaria and Turkey from the Atatürk period to the present.
