Family history is an important risk factor in cancer. Breast or colorectal cancer (CRC) in first-degree relatives of patients with the risk of developing these cancers are higher than those without a family history. These individuals are at high risk for cancer screening participation should be provided at regular intervals. By health care professionals the presence of cancer in individuals with a family history, the patient assessed level of risk should be determined by degree of kinship. Mild, moderate, or high risk group individuals in the appropriate age range to participate in the screening program will reduce the mortality rate of these cancers. In Turkey, the high rate of breast cancer and colorectal cancer, taking into account primarily of first-degree relatives is recommended to increase participation in cancer screening.
