The aim of the present study was to evaluate the serum levels of some trace elements in the cattle suffering from tongue rolling in the Kayseri province. A total of 65 cattle, aged between 6 months and 6 years, breeding in cattle management farms in Kayseri province were used in the study. Twenty five of the cattle were allocated as healthy control group while the other 40 consisted of tongue rolling group. Blood samples were collected from the each cattles jugular vein into tubes with coagulant free for serum copper, zinc, manganese, cobalt, iron, chromium and nickel analysis. Sera were separated by centrifugation at 3000 rpm for 10 min after 1 hour incubation of blood samples at room temperature and stored at – 20 °C until the analysis. Serum copper, zinc, manganese, cobalt, iron, chromium and nickel levels were determined by a Inductively Coupled Plasma-0ptical Emission spectrophotometer. A statistical significance difference was not determined between the healthy control and tongue rolling group for serum copper, zinc, manganese, cobalt, iron, chromium and nickel levels. In conclusion, it was deduced that serum copper, zinc, manganese, cobalt, iron, chromium and nickel trace elements had no role for the aetiology of tongue rolling in cattle in Kayseri province.
