Abstract:

This study aims to examine the views of children’s development program students on the implementation of STEM-based activities for pre-school children. For this purpose, a phenomenological research model, which is one of the quality research methods, has been used. The examples of the study were studied in the 2nd year of the Bayramiç Professional High School Child Development Programme at Çanakkale Onto March University. The date was gathered in the 2020-2021 academic year. 7 interview questions have been used to tell the news to learn the opinions of students about STEM-based events. The contents obtained in the interview were analyzed by analysis. Interviews are valid and reliable. In the findings obtained in the study, they found that they had difficulties in planning the STEM activities to learn the child development program, but after having the relevant field knowledge they felt sufficient and they had no difficulties in the practice. It also appears that STEM activities play an important place in education where the response to daily life, science, technology, science and mathematics holds an important place. Because they don’t know before, they say they don’t use STEM activities in their pre-school stages and they are willing to use STEM in their subsequent applications. In light of these findings, the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics are important and teaching is necessary in STEM education from the early ages. It is understood that they believe that a STEM-based structure should be built to educate skilled individuals. Students are believed in the necessity of STEM activities in the statement of events related to daily life.
