Abstract:

For centuries, what we see in nature and imitating what is in nature, the human textile has also been used as a raw material and as a painting material. In the roofs he touches, in the roofs, in the clothes; in the shoes he brushes, in the patches, in the cascades, etc. In textile crafts, man who uses natural fiber such as wheat, silk, cotton, keten, has also used the roots, leaves and flowers of the plants he obtained from nature to color. By the end of the 1800s, with the development of the industry and the increase in synthetic painting, the use of natural paintings has been increasingly reduced. In the last 40-50 years, the harm to the environment and humans of the toxic and carcinogenic properties of synthetic paint has begun to appear more and more, which has led to the re-establishment of natural paintings, especially in recent years. One of the most discussed topics in recent years, environmental and human-focused sustainability has become a way of production and design that preserves nature and man over time. The ecological printing method, which is another artistic method while the use in natural painting in the textile field increases, is also a very frequently used form of production. In this study, we will discuss the encounter of silk texts produced by traditional wire curving and silk texture technology with ecological printing, which is a contemporary art production technique. Emel Duman, who is a traditional silk hand fabric in Hatay's Harbiye district, combines a traditional form of production with a modern art understanding using the method of ecological pressure on its own silk fabric shals and fuses. From Emel Duman's silk insect cultivation and the way of production that takes from the crossing to the curve to the curve to the silk fabric and ends with ecological pressure in the design phase, the examples that he makes will be described with examples of the combination of craft and modern design.
