Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the self-perceptions of teachers working in public secondary schools in the central districts of Kayseri regarding their burnout levels. A quantitative research approach was used in the study. The universe of the study consists of 4387 teachers working in 129 state secondary schools in the 2022-2023 academic year; The sample consists of 357 teachers whose sample is defined according to the stratified sampling method. The data collection tool created by Evci and Aylar (2007) was used in the study. The scale prepared using Google Forms has been applied to 419 teachers to ensure reliability. According to the result of the analysis, it was seen that teachers' self-perceptions according to burnout levels reported the ‘Undecision’ opinion on the average of all substances on the scale, and it was observed that teachers generally experienced moderate burnout. It wasseen that there are critical differences in the lower dimension of economic satisfaction in the gender variable, in the dimension of in-class saturation in the working time variable with the administrator in the school, in the dimension of perception of competence in the professional seniority variable, in the dimension of in-class saturation in the education status variable, in the dimension of perception of competence. Based on these outcomes, it has been proposed that teachers working in secondary school should be supported by their colleagues, the school administration in order to prevent them from experiencing burnout and to reduce burnout levels, as well as to organize trainings in cooperation with universities.
