Objective: Verify the underreport of food intake by adolescents attended in private offices. Material and Methods: Retrospective study conducted with 50 adolescents between 11 and 18 years old. The body mass index was classified by the Centers for Disease Control (2000), the physical activity level, total energetic requirement, and basal metabolic rate (BMR) by the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI’s, 2002). The food consumption of three days was calculated using the software Virtual Nutri. Underreporting was considered in ingestions <1.35 of BMR. Results and Discussion: It was identified a higher number of girls (56%) with predominance of sedentarism (82.15%). Among the adolescents who underreported, 44.44% were males and 55.56% females. In the underreporting-male group, 43.75% presented overweight. Considering the females, 45% presented obesity. In both genders the sedentarism was predominant. Conclusion: Obesity and overweight were the most prevalent nutritional problem amongst the adolescents that underreported the food intake, pointing out to a higher incidence in less active individuals, justifying the relevant care that should be employed in the analysis of food consumption underreport and the dietary assessment to be implemented.
