Diğer taraftan Cenevizliler’in ekonomik baskıları altında bulunmuştur. Rumlar’m yaşadıkları bu bölgeler 1461'de Fâtih Sultan Mehmed'in Karadeniz kıyılarını fethi sırasında Osmanlı topraklarına katılmıştır. Aradan ikibin yıl geçmesine rağmen, mîllî duygularından hiç bir şey kaybetmeyen Rumlar, 1840 senesinden İtibaren dini gerekçelerle ve eğitim kisvesi altında bölge üzerindeki nüfuzlarını artırarak, Millî Mücadele döneminin kaosundan istifade edip, bağımsız bir devlet kurmak için harekete geçmişlerdir.
By the time the Greeks named Pont-Euxin in the Black Sea region in 281 B.C. the Romans, who established a kingdom under the rule of the Romans. It ended in 63. With the division of the Roman Empire in two parts, in Pontus, which is now the Byzantine land, the Comnen county founded a kingdom in 1203. Sinop was taken in Istanbul with the invitation of the Paleologists, who took the throne and the enemy of the Komnenes, to open the Selçuklu Turks to Pontus, and Trabzon was surrounded. The transition of this region to the Turkish rule began with this event. The kingdom of Pontus was never independent and tried to continue its existence by paying taxes to the Selchucks and the Mongols, respectively, and then by giving a daughter to the Turkmen gentlemen. On the other hand, it was under the economic pressure of the Jews. These areas where the Romans lived joined the Ottoman territories during the conquest of the Black Sea coast of the Fatih Sultan Mehmed in 1461. Though two years have passed, the Romans, who have not lost anything from their moral feelings, have since 1840 moved on the ground, increasing their influence on the region on religious grounds and under the educational scope, from the chaos of the National Struggle period, and to establish an independent state.
