Abstract Tourism is in a very important position in terms of national economies. FDI related to the tourism sector contribute to the country's economy. In addition, tourism expenditures also affect economic growth. In order for the efficiency to be obtained from the tourism sector to be at a high level, countries should determine their targets in this direction. In this context, the main aim of the study is to ensure that appropriate tourism policies can be created, which FDI and economic growth are factors. For the output of the intended policies, the panel causality test developed by Emirmahmutoğlu and Köse (2011), was applied to the OECD countries for the period of 2005-2020. As a result, in terms of tourism policy, the issue that is more important than the number of tourists is to ensure that the tourist that creates sustainable and added value spends. In this context, it is important to place tourism policies on a technological and environmentalist infrastructure.
