Şiddetin birey ve toplum üzerinde yıkıcı etkilere sahip olması, şiddeti her dönemde ve her toplumda tartışılan bir olgu haline getirmiştir. Şiddetin tanımı, kökeni, amacı, biçimi ve etkileri konusunda farklı disiplinler farklı görüşler ileri sürseler de, şiddetin yıkıcı etkileri ve önlenmesi gerektiği hususunda ortak bir fikir birliği mevcuttur. Şiddetin medyada ve özellikle sinemada kullanımı ise en baştan itibaren tartışma konusu olmuştur. Tartışmanın odağında ise sinemada kullanılan şiddetin, birey ve toplum üzerinde yaratacağı olumsuz etkiler yer almaktadır. Sinemada şiddet kullanımının şiddeti özendirdiği, şiddeti meşrulaştırdığı ya da duyarsızlaşma yarattığı konusunda var olan çeşitli endişeler sinema tarihinin başlangıcına kadar dayanmaktadır. 2019 tarihinde vizyona giren “Joker” filmi de bu bağlamda tartışmaların odağında yer almıştır. 2012 yılında sinema salonunda 12 kişinin hayatını kaybetmesine neden olan bir kişinin kendisini “Joker” olarak tanımlaması, filmin vizyona girmeden tartışılmasına neden olmuştur. Bu bağlamda, sinemada şiddet gösteriminin birey ve toplum üzerinde yarattığı etkiler probleminden yola çıkan çalışmanın hipotezi Joker filminin şiddeti kutsadığı, şiddeti belli şartlar altında kabul edilebilir ve hatta gerekli kıldığına dair bir anlatıma sahip olduğudur. Film, kötü karakter olarak bilinen Joker karakterini bir anti – kahramana dönüştürmüştür. Çalışma doküman analizi yöntemi ile filmden elde edilen verilerin hipotezi test etmesi amacını taşımaktadır. Çalışmada analiz birimi olarak filmdeki diyaloglar ve sahneler kullanılacaktır.
The fact that violence has devastating effects on the individual and society has made violence a phenomenon discussed in every period and in every society. Though different disciplines have different views on the definition, origin, purpose, form and effects of violence, there is a common agreement on the destructive effects of violence and the need to be prevented. The use of violence in the media and especially in the cinema has been a topic of debate. The focus of the debate is on the negative effects of the violence used in the cinema on the individual and society. The various concerns that the use of violence in the cinema encourages violence, legalizes violence, or creates sensitivity lasted until the beginning of the film history. The 2019 film "Joker" has also been the focus of discussion in this context. In 2012, a person who caused the death of 12 people in the cinema to identify himself as a "Joker" has led to the discussion of the film without entering the view. In this context, the hypothesis of the study, based on the problem of the effects of violence in the cinema on the individual and society, is that the Joker film has a narrative that the violence is blessed, that the violence is acceptable and even necessary under certain conditions. The film has turned the Joker character known as a bad character into an anti-hero. The purpose of the study is to test the hypothesis of the data obtained from the film with the method of document analysis. In the study, dialogue and scenes in the film will be used as an analysis unit.
