Studies on determining the vocabulary in the process of teaching native language is very important. As the basic aim of teaching of native language is to enable the child to use his/her mother tongue correctly, vocabulary items occupy an important role in that educational process. Teaching vocabulary is an important field during that process. However, significant challanges are experienced either theoretically or in practice. This paper focuses on the necessity and importance of studies on determining the vocabulary in the process of teaching native language and activities that aim to teach “idioms” which are among the principal items in vocabulary.
