So many results that aren't mine?

Abstract:

Purpose: Main purpose of this study is to examine the differences between traits of perfectionism of the university preparatory students and their anxiety levels, gender, perceived personality type, perceived body image. Method: During the 2004-2005 academic year, 96 female and 82 male students from the School of Foreign Languages in Hacettepe University were taken as the sample of this study. The perfectionism levels of the students were measured by using "Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale" developed by Hewitt and Flett (1991) and adapted to Turkish Culture by Oral (1999). Anxiety levels of the students were measured by using "Trait Anxiety Scale" developed by Spielberg (1970) and adapted to Turkish Culture by LeCompte and Öner (1985). In order to get information about the independent variables "Personal Information Form" which was developed by the researcher was utilizied. For the data analysis, univariate analysis of variance was used. Findings: Common effects of trait anxiety level and gender, perceived personality type, perceived body image were not found significant on perfectionism traits. Socially prescribed perfectionism levels of males were found significantly higher than females. Perceived personality type and perfectionism traits are not found significantly different. Perceived body image and perfectionism traits are not found significantly different. Socially prescribed perfectionism levels of students, who have high levels of trait anxiety, are found significantly higher compared to low level of trait anxiety students. Results: According to fin-dings, sociallyprescribed perfectionism levels of students who have high levels of trait anxiety are higher than who have low leves of trait anxiety. Also, socially-prescribed perfectionism levels of males are higher than females
