Abstract:

In Turkey, as a result of a military coup carried out by the army on May 27, 1960, a heavy blow to democracy was hit with the cleansing of the Democratic Party (DP).  This has also led to a coup in Turkey. In this context, the local newspapers published in the Bitlis province in the DP Period to assess how the May 27 Strike left an impact in Bitlis will be assessed by Green Bitlis, Dideban, Tasviri Efkâr and New Dideban newspapers. This article discusses the impact of the May 27 military coup throughout the country, while also analyses the reflections of the conflict in the Bitlis province. In order to objectively evaluate and analyze the effects, the one-party life in Turkey ends and the multi-party life is passed, the DP comes to power and the conditions that lead to the coup in the country will be discussed in the context of the result and historical process. In this context, the news of the Greek Bitlis, Dideban, Tasviri Efkâr and New Dideban newspapers are thoroughly examined and investigated the attitude of the mezkûr newspapers as a result of the May 27th 1960 coup and the power in creating the public. It will also be revealed at the end of the study how the coup left an impact on the people throughout Bitlis.

Abstract:

As it is known, a military coup was carried out by the army on 27 May 1960 in our country and with the removal of the Democratic Party, which came to power with the free votes of the people, democracy was hit hard. This situation also launched a coup of process in Turkey.In this context, in order to assess how the May 27 coup d'etat affected Bitlis, local newspapers published in Bitlis during the Democratic Party period have been benefited. This newspapers are: Yesl Bitlis, Dideban, Tasviri Efkâr and Yeni Dideban. In this study while the impact of the May 27 Military Coup in the country has been taken into account, the echoes of the effect of the coup in Bitlis are analyzed at the same time. In order to evaluate and analyze these effects in an objective manner; Turkey's multi-party transittion, developments in the Democratic Party's power and military intervention are handled in terms of historical development. In the context of these data, thoroughly examining the news of journalists of the Yesil Bitlis, Dideban, Tasviri Efkar and Yeni Dideban; it is being investigated that what kind of attitude was taken by the mentioned newspapers in the face of the May 27, 1960 Military Intervention and power of public opinion. This piece shall be created by utilizing various research and examination works, primarily local newspapers veri.
