Abstract:

Purpose: In this study, in the determination of inflammation that plays a role in cancer etiopathogenesis, the current parameters, such as neutrophil/lenfocyt ratio (NLO), average thrombocyt volume (OTH), thrombocyt/lenfocyt ratio (TLO) and thrombocyt large cell ratio (TBHO), which are suitable for routine use, easy to analyze and added to inflammatory indicators, were studied the possibility of a biobelateral hemogram values for colorectal cancer (CRC). In patients diagnosed with CNS between 01.01.2019–31.08.2019, the results of the hemogram test requested when they received the first diagnosis in the third stage health institution were compared with the results of the hemogram requested in patients in the same age and gender group as a control group again to the same center for general examination. The study also excluded patients in the patient and control group with infection, diagnosis of rheumatism disease and hemogram values beyond the normal limits. The hemogram results of patients were statistically evaluated. The study included 492 patients with colorectal cancer and 327 controls. The colorectal cancer group was found at significantly high levels compared to the NLO and TLO control group (P<0.001). In the patient group, TBHO values were found significantly low (r= −0.451, P<0.001) compared to the control group. The cutoff value for NLO was 5.01; the cutoff value for TLO was 251; the cutoff value for TBHO was 43. The study supports the presence of inflammation in the etiopathogenesis of colorectal cancer. In colorectal cancer patients, the height in the NLO and TLO values and the low in the TBHO values may be an important biological indicator in determining the disease.
