Purpose: This study aims to compare the pregnancies diagnosed with hyperemezis gravidarum (HG) in terms of healthy pregnancies and affective sputum properties and to study whether HG’s affective disorders are related to prodrom properties. Method: According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the study included 58 healthy pregnancies matched in terms of age as a pregnancy and control group of 40 HG. The participants were applied to Memphis, Pisa, Paris and San Diego Automatic Survey (TEMPS-A) and Status-Sustainability Anxiety Scale (STAI-1 and STAI-2). Results: STAI-1 and STAI-2 scores were significantly higher than the control group in the HG group (respectively; p < 0,001 and p < 0,001). The depression and anxiety scores were found to be higher than the control group in the HG group (respectively; p = 0,007 and p < 0,001). Discussions: Our study is the first study that studies affective spots in pregnancies with HG. Having regard to the fact that affective spots differ in patients with HG and the continuity of the spots characteristics, we consider that our study is important in terms of supporting the psychiatric substructure of HG. It is believed that greater sample studies are needed to confirm the findings of our study.
