Abstract:

This study was carried out between 2011 and 2020 in order to examine the flora and vegetation structure of Çelikhan district of Adiyaman (Turkey) province and its close surroundings. Accordingly, 329 generaes and 867 taxa belonging to 79 families were identified in the relevant area. Two of the taxa belong to the Pteridophyta section and 864 taxa to the Spermatophyta section. Also, the number of endemic taxa was found to be as 139 (16%). Considering the distribution of taxa in phyto-geographical regions; Irano-Turanian element, Mediterranean element and Euro-Siberian element included 220 taxa (25,4%), 86 taxa (9,9%) and 31 taxa (3,6%), respectively. The first 10 families in terms of taxa number were Asteraceae (102), Fabaceae (85), Lamiaceae (62), Caryophyllaceae (57), Brassicaceae (54), Poaceae (47), Boraginaceae (40), Rosaceae (39), Rubiaceae (28) and Apiaceae (26), respectively. In terms of number of taxa, the first 11 genera were determined as Astragalus (28), Silene/Allium (16), Veronica/Euphorbia/Galium (13), Minuartia (11), Alyssum/Onosma/Asperula/Trifolium (10). Of those taxa identified; Rheum telianum İlçim at Ulubaba Mountain and Allium donmezii Mutlu & Karakuş at Akdağ have been registered as new taxa. Herewith the current study, the floristic list is given for the first time for the Çat Dam Lake Basin. In the field of research, 190 minimal areas were evaluated in vegetation studies conducted according to the Braun-Blanquet method and the existence of 19 new assosiasions was revealed. Of those assosiasions, six of them belong to forest and bush, whilst 13 of them belong to steppe and alpine steppe vegetation types.
