Abstract:

The aim of the study is to determine the effect Covid-19 fear on work performance in healthcare workers as well as the mediating role of organizational commitment in this relationship. 409 health workers working in Tokat participated in the study. The data were collected through an online survey. In data collection, a demographic information form which used to the descriptive characteristics of the participants, the Covid-19 fear scale, organizational commitment scale and the job performance scale for measuring the work performance of the employees were used. The data were analyzed using SPSS 25 package program and SPSS Process 2.16 macro. After the reliability analysis of the data was performed, detailed analyzes were made with descriptive statistics, explanatory factor analysis, correlation analysis and 4th model mediation analysis methods. The results of the study demonstrated that healthcare workers had a low fear of Covid-19, a moderate level of organizational commitment, and a high level of job performance. It has been found that the fear levels caused by Covid-19 reduced the levels of job performance (coefficient=0.1701) and in addition the mediating effect of organizational commitment reduced the level of fear due to Covid-19 (coefficient=0.1026).
