SOURCES AND CONCEPTS RELATED TO METHODS AND TECHNICS OF MUSIC TEACHING

Abstract:

In this research, teaching methods and techniques are of great importance to the teaching of music classes which composes a dimension of education. In this context, the research is aimed teaching special methods and techniques of music teaching with the methods and techniques used in lectures and practice of music classes, as well as defining the gradation that music classes have. Four sub-probing answers were sought regarding this purpose. It is also thought that clarifying the place of music teaching methods and techniques in literature will prevent prospective teachers to be confused at the beginning of their career; moreover, by revealing the details of teaching methods and techniques of music, it will make contribution to music teachers, prospective music teachers, instructors, and our educational system. For this purpose, descriptive research method of qualitative research type is used in the research. “Case study” model for the analysis of all sub-problems of the research, “document review” as the data collection technique, and “content analysis” method for data analysis are used in the research. As a result of the research, the current state of the methods and techniques of music teaching in the literature are presented. Three sources related to this field have been reached in Turkey. Lastly in 2016, another resource containing music teaching methods and techniques was published. it is seen that there are mismatching points as well as common grounds among the sources. The lack of sources on music teaching methods and techniques necessitates a new work in this area and It is thought that these studies will contribute to our education and training system.
