Abstract:

Intergenerational communication literature involves studies on communication problems arising from generation gap at the individual and institutional levels. Generation gap is an influential factor in family communication and institutions’ (public / private / NGO) communication with both their employees and target audiences. For this reason, it is important to analyze the causes and consequences of generation gap. In this study, it is investigated that how generation gap affects the readers’ daily newspaper reading practices. This study is carried out with focus group method focusing on newspaper news, as the oldest and most common means of mass media, especially news on science, technology and innovation and analyzes young people and older adults’ interpretation practices. Experiencing the mass media contains valuable clues about how people interact with everyday life, events, and other people.
