Bir dilin söz varlığındaki sözcüklerin incelenmesi, araştırmacılara, o dili konuşan toplumun yaşantısı, düşünce biçimi, kültürü ve felsefesi hakkında pek çok önemli veri sunar. Bu çalışmada Türk dilinin metinlerle takip edilebilen en eski dönemlerinden itibaren karşımıza çıkan okı- fiili, köken bakımından mercek altına alınacak ve Türk dilinin en eski yazıtlarından itibaren belli başlı tarihî metinlerdeki görünümü ve anlamları incelenecektir. Yapılan incelemeler sonucunda, araştırmacılar arasında bu sözcüğün kökeni üzerine ortak bir fikir birliği olmadığı belirlenmiştir. Bazı araştırmacılar, okı- fiilini, dil-kültür ilişkisi çerçevesinde inceleyerek kökeninin bir savaş aleti olan “ok” sözcüğünden geldiğini ifade ederken, bazıları bu fiilin “ok” sözcüğüyle bir ilgisi olmayıp doğrudan “okı-“ kökünden geldiğini belirtmiş, bazıları da sözcüğün kökenine dair herhangi bir yorumda bulunmamıştır. Bu yazıda, Eski Türkçede “çağırmak, davet etmek” anlamlarında kullanılan ve kökeni üzerinde fikir birliği sağlanamayan okı- fiilinin kökenini aydınlatabilmek amaçlanmış ve sözcüğün kökeninin savaş aleti olan “ok” sözcüğünden gelmediği birtakım karşılaştırma ve delillerle ispat edilmeye çalışılmıştır.
The study of the words in the existence of a language provides researchers with many important data about the life, way of thinking, culture and philosophy of the speaking society. In this study, we will consider the original characteristic of the earliest periods of the Turkish language that can be followed by texts, and from the earliest texts of the Turkish language, the appearance and meaning of certain main historical texts will be studied. The results of the studies found that there was no common opinion between the researchers on the origin of this word. Some researchers, by studying the arrow-facility in the framework of the language-cultural relationship, indicate that its origin comes from the word "ok", which is a war tool, while some indicate that this fact has no connection with the word "ok" and is directly from the root of "ok-", and some have not made any comments on the origin of the word. In this article, it was intended to be able to illuminate the origin of the flagship, which is used in the ancient Turkish meaning of "cover, invite" and which is unable to provide an unification on its origin, and the origin of the word was tried to be proven by a number of comparisons and evidence that the word was not derived from the word "ok" which is the war tool.
