Amaç: İzmir’in Ödemiş ilçesinde patates üretiminin teknik ve ekonomik yönleri incelemek ve girdi kullanım etkinliği analiz etmektir. Tasarım/Metodoloji/Yaklaşım: Araştırmada oransal örnekleme yöntemi ile 90 üreticiden yüz yüze anket yöntemiyle veriler derlenmiştir. Araştırma kapsamına 2019 yılı üretim dönemi alınmıştır. Verilerin analizinde, patates üretim alanı büyüklüğüne göre işletmeler üç gruba ayrılmıştır. 15 dekar ve daha az üretim alanına sahip işletmeler birinci grubu (29 işletme), 16 ile 29 dekar arasında üretim alanına sahip işletmeler ikinci grubu (31 işletme), 30 dekar ve daha fazla üretim alanına sahip işletmeler ise üçüncü grubu (30 işletme) oluşturmuştur. Araştırmada önce üreticilerin sosyo-ekonomik özellikleri incelenmiş, daha sonra patates üretiminin teknik ve ekonomik analizi yapılmıştır. Patates üretiminde girdi kullanım etkinliğinin saptanmasında Veri Zarflama Analizinden (VZA) yararlanılmıştır. Bulgular: Kapsama alınan işletmelerde ortalama patates üretim alanı 41.88 dekardır. Patates üretiminden dekara elde edilen verim 3875.79 kg olarak saptanmıştır. Patatesten dekara elde edilen ortalama net kâr 387.92 TL olarak hesaplanmıştır. Girdiye yönelik VZA sonuçlarına göre ortalama teknik etkinlik (CRS) 0.900 olarak belirlenmiştir. Özgünlük/Değer: Patates üretiminde karlılığı arttırmanın temel yolu verimi arttırmak ve üretim masraflarını minimize etmektir. Bunun için üreticilerin girdi kullanımını zamanında ve etkin yapmaları gerekmektedir. Girdi kullanımında etkinlik analizi ise, üreticilerin hangi girdilerin kullanımını azaltması gerektiğini öğrenebilmesi ve etkinlik sağlayabilmesi açısından önemlidir. Ancak Türkiye’de daha önce patates üretiminde girdi kullanım etkinliğinin analizi üzerine bir araştırma yapılmadığı görülmektedir.
Purpose: To examine the technical and economic aspects of potato production in Ödemiş, İzmir, and to analyze the efficiency of input use. Desgn/Methodology/Approach: In the study, data were collected from 90 farmers by proportional sampling method and face-to-face survey method. The production period of 2019 was included in the scope of the study. In the analysis of the data, the farms were divided into three groups according to the size of the potato production area. Farms with a production area of 15 decares or less constitute the first group (29 farms), farms with a production area of 16 to 29 decares constitute the second group (31 farms), and farms with a production area of 30 decares or more constitute the third group (30 farms). In the study, the socio-economic characteristics of the farmers were examined first, and then the technical and economic analysis of potato production was made. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) was used to determine the efficiency of input use in potato production. Findings: The average potato production area in the included farms is 41.88 decares. Yield obtained from potato production per decare was determined as 3,875.79 kg. The average net profit from potatoes per decare was calculated as 387.92 TL. According to the DEA results for the input, the average technical efficiency (CRS) was determined as 0.900. Originalty/Value: The main way to increase profitability in potato production is to increase yield and minimize production costs. For this, farmers need to make use of inputs on time and effectively. Efficiency analysis in the use of inputs, on the other hand, is important for farmers to learn which inputs they need to reduce their use and to provide efficiency. However, it is seen that no study has been done on the analysis of input use efficiency in potato production before in Turkey.
