The purpose of this study is to determine whether the perceptions of primary school teachers about visionary leadership and differs significantly according to some variables or not with their perceptions about the visionary leadership. The study is a survey type and it was carried out in the academic year of 2007 – 2008.The population of the study consisted of 422 state primary schools in 19 metropolitan districts of İzmir and 13.644 teachers.61 primary schools and 665 teachers from 19 metropolitan districts were taken into the sample with a method of stratified sampling. Leadership profile survey developed by Sashkin and Rosenbach were used in the study. The following findings were obtained.Perceptions of teachers' about visionary leadership is very great level. the perceptions of the primary school teachers about visionary leadership differ significantly according to their gender.The perceptions of primary school teachers about visionary leadership differ significantly according to their years of experience. The perceptions of primary school teachers about visionary leadership do not differ significantly according to teaching fields. The perceptions of primary school teachers about visionary leadership do not differ significantly according to level of education . The perceptions of primary school teachers about visionary leadership differ significantly according to the number of the students at school they work. The perceptions of primary school teachers about visionary leadership differ significantly according to the district they work in. The perceptions of primary school teachers about visionary leadership differ significantly according to whether their schools have an award of TQM or not.
