Abstract:

Name science, which is one of the fields of study of language science, is a discipline of science that stands on special names, studies the origins of special names, the historical development in terms of various language and cultural issues. This discipline of science has subdivisions that stand on toponymie, person name science and various geographical names. The names of the villages have an important place in the Turkish land names. Because the Turks have settled in many places with migrations and conquests and either gave these places the ancient Turkish land names or brought the name of the place of settlement in Arabic, Armenian, Persian according to the fonetics of the Turkish. This importance given to the land names, by adopting the newly settled place to us, shows the idea of home acquisition and the names that are important for that people. Another factor that is important in determining the land names is the plant cover of the place to be called. For Turks, plant coverage is important because they live a migratory life. The nutrition and development of the animal depends on the plant coverage. The creation of plant names and village names is an indicator of the value the Turks give to nature. Sivas is the second largest province of Turkey in terms of land width. It is located in the eastern Anadolu and the Black Sea region. It has a variety of endemic plant coverage with its soil that enters the redness, greenness and furnace basins. In our statement, we have studied the village names of plant origin within the limits of the Sivas. The general and special names given to the plants and the names in which the words given to any part of the plants are used are collected under the title of village names of plant origin. The plant has been studied in terms of village names, origin and grammatical structure. The results were shown in the tables. This study has determined what plants are frequently used in the area of Sivas. The Turkish culture, the Turkish language and the land name sciences have been asked to contribute.
