Haydar Rifat Bey, 01.01.1877 tarihinde İstanbul’un Fatih semtinde dünyaya gelmiştir. Dönemin önemli gazetelerinde yazarlık yapan Haydar Rifat Bey çok yönlü kişiliği ile çeviriler yapmış ve aynı zamanda avukatlık mesleğini de icra etmiştir. Yaşadığı dönemde önemli davaların avukatlığını üstlenen Haydar Rifat Bey’in adının geçtiği en önemli dava, Adalet Bakanı Mahmut Esat Bey ile yaşamış olduğudur. Haydar Rifat Bey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’e yazmış olduğu mektuplarla Mahmut Esat Bey’in haksız uygulamalarından bahsetmiş ve bu sebeple hakkında dava açılmıştır. Mahmut Esat Bey’in kendisine hakaret edildiği gerekçesi ile açmış olduğu bu dava sonunda Haydar Rifat Bey’e hakaretten iki yıl hapis cezası verilmiştir. Haydar Rifat Bey ile Mahmut Esat Bey arasında yaşanan bu dava başından sonuna kadar tüm çevrelerin ilgi odağında bulunmuştur. Dönemin gazeteleri tüm gelişmeleri okuyucusuna aktarırken konu, TBMM’de de gündeme taşınmıştır. Dönem basınınında yer alan haberlerden yola çıkarak hazırlanan bu çalışma kısıtlı basılı eserlerden yararlanarak ele alınmaya çalışılmıştır.

The most important case in which the name of Haydar Rifat Mr, who took over the role of lawyer of important cases during his life, was that he lived with Justice Minister Mahmut Esat Mr. Mr. Haydar Rifat, with his letters to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, talked about the unfair practices of Mr. Mahmut Esat and therefore the case was opened. This work, which was prepared from the news in the period, was attempted to be addressed using limited printed works.
