Abstract:

In this study, the aim of 4006 TÜBİTAK Science Exhibitions is to study the impact of the process on the scientific process skills of high school students and to determine the students' opinions about the exhibition events. The study group consists of 17 students studying in the 7th and 8th classes of a state high school in Yozgat. In the quantitative size of the study designed as the research of the mixed method, a single group of pre-test-on-test half-experimental patterns were used. In the quality size, the students’ opinions about the exhibition activities were taken to support quantum data. The research data was collected through the scale of the scientific process skills and a semi-structured conversation form. For the analysis of Nicel data, the non-parametric tests have been used by the Wilcoxon-marked sequence test. According to the analysis results, the scale of the scientific process skills of the students involved in the research has been found to have a statistically meaningful difference in favor of the final test between the pre-test and the final test points. The quality data of the research was evaluated by the content analysis technique and it was determined that students had positive views on the scientific exhibition. Students pointed out in their opinions that the exhibition activities positively influence their attitudes and motivations, significantly contribute to the course of science and the development of skills. The findings obtained from quantitative data are needed and the results of interviews with students show that the scientific exhibition process has a positive impact on the student’s scientific process skills. As a result, according to this study, it can be said that the 4006 TÜBİTAK Science Exhibition has achieved the purpose of acquiring the scientific process skills from the desired call purposes.
