Bu araştırmanın amacı, örnek olay öğretim yönteminin öğrencilerin akademik başarıları ile öğrenmede kalıcılık üzerindeki etkisini incelemek ve örnek olay öğretim yöntemine ilişkin öğrenci görüşlerini belirlemektir. Araştırmada nitel ve nicel araştırma yaklaşımlarının birlikte kullanıldığı karma araştırma yöntemlerinden gömülü desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, Bayburt ilinde bir lisenin üç farklı şubesinde öğrenim gören toplam 101 (DG=34, KG1=35, KG2=32) 10. sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak öğrencilerin akademik başarılarını ve öğrenmede kalıcılığı belirlemek için Doğal Afetler Başarı Testi (DABT), örnek olay öğretim yöntemi ile ilgili öğrenci görüşlerini tespit etmek amacıyla yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ve öğrenci günlükleri kullanılmıştır. DABT’dan elde edilen verilerin analizinde Tek Yönlü Varyans Analizi (ANOVA) ve çoklu karşılaştırma Tukey testi yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ve öğrenci günlüklerinden elde edilen verilerin analizinde ise içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, örnek olay öğretim yönteminin, öğrencilerin akademik başarıları ile öğrenmede kalıcılık üzerinde olumlu bir etkiye sahip olduğu ve öğrencilerin örnek olay öğretim yöntemine ilişkin görüşlerinin olumlu olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
The objective of this research is to study the impact of the example event teaching method on student academic achievements and durability in learning and to determine the student views on the example event teaching method. The research has used a pattern embedded from the karma research methods in which qualitative and quantitative research approaches are used together. The study group consists of a total of 101 (DG=34, KG1=35, KG2=32) 10th-class students studying in three different branches of a high school in Bayburt province. The Natural Disasters Success Test (DABT) has been used as a data collection tool to determine students’ academic achievements and sustainability in learning, a semi-configured conversation form and student logs to identify students’ opinions about the example event teaching method. In the analysis of the data obtained from the DABT, one-way variance analysis (ANOVA) and multi-comparation Tukey test; in the analysis of the data obtained from the student diaries and the semi-configured interview form, content analysis was used. The research finds that the sample event teaching method has a positive impact on students’ academic achievements and learning durability, and that the students’ opinions about the sample event teaching method are positive.
The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of case study method on academic achievement and retention of the students in learning and to determine their point of views on the case study method. The embedded design method, one of the mixed research methods in which qualitative and quantitative research methods are used together, was used in the study. The study group consisted of 101 (DG = 34, KG1 = 35, KG2 = 32) 10th-grade students receiving education in three different classes of a high school in Bayburt. Natural Disasters Achievement Test (NDAT) was used to determine the academic achievement and retention of students in learning, semi-structured interview forms, and student diaries were used to determine views of the students about the case study teaching method. One-way "ANOVA" and "Tukey multiple comparison" tests were used to analyze the data obtained from NDAT and content analysis method was used in the analysis of the data obtained from the semi-structured interview forms and student diaries. As a result of the study, it was found that the case study method had a positive effect on academic achievement and retention of the students and their opinions about the case study method were found to be positive.
