Abstract:

The purpose of the research is to identify the metaphoric perceptions of class teacher candidates regarding the concept of sustainable development. The research was conducted in the spring period of the 2019-20 educational-learning year in a university located in the province of Gaziantep class teaching in the main science of the third and fourth classes of 70 teachers candidates. All the teaching candidates have previously received the "Environmental Science and Education" course in the second class. In accordance with the purpose of the research, the researcher was asked to produce a metafor with the phrase given in the form of 'sustainable development .....' to the teachers' candidates. The responses of the teacher candidates were analyzed by content analysis. Teachers candidates produced a quarter metafor in a total of five categories. The metaphors produced by the candidates were gathered in the categories "Profit for future generations, Balance, Continuity, Equality, Road Indicator". Teacher candidates have also expressed their views on the environmental dimension of sustainable development along with the economic and social dimension.
