Kadın ve erkek eşitliğini savunan ve femine kelimesinden türemiş olan feminizm kavramının tarihi serüveni 18. yüzyılda başlamıştır. Aydınlanma çağı sonrası kadınların erkekler karşısında siyasal, sosyal, ekonomik ve hukuksal alanlarda daha az hakka sahip olduğu düşüncesi etrafında temellenen feminizm olgusu 19. yüzyılda kadınların söz konusu hakları edinebilmek amacıyla girişmiş oldukları mücadeleler neticesinde ortaya çıkmıştır. Tarihi çağların başladığı ilk günden bu yana ataerkil bir yapıya sahip olan toplumların mevcut yapısında artık bir değişiklik yapmak ve kadınların da söz ve yetki sahibi olmasını sağlamak amacıyla ortaya çıkan feminizm kavramı ile ilgili kadın durumunu sorgulayan, çeşitli ve kapsamlı eleştiriler getiren kuramlar geliştirilmiştir. Kadını odak noktasına alan ve kadının durumunun her anlamda daha iyi bir düzeye gelmesi üzerine düşünceler üreten, planlar yapan kuramlar kadına erkekler gibi kimlik kazandırma çabası içerisinde olmuşlardır. Gerek ulusal gerekse uluslararası arenada farklı görüşteki bireyleri / toplulukları bir araya getirebilen ve ortak bir paydada birleştirebilen feminist kuramlar zaman içerisinde birtakım değişim / gelişimler yaşamıştır. Bu çalışma kadın kimliğinin toplumsal alandaki yansımaları, feminizm kavramı ile feminist kuramlar tarihi coğrafya perspektifinden analiz edilmiştir.
The historical adventure of the concept of feminism, which espouses the equality of men and women and derives from the word femine 18. it started in the century. Feminism is based around the idea that women have less rights in the political, social, economic and legal fields than men after the age of enlightenment 19. it was the result of the struggles of women in the century in order to acquire these rights. In order to make a change in the existing structure of societies that have had a patriarchal structure since the beginning of the historical ages and to ensure that women have a say and authority in the concept of feminism, theories have been developed that question the status of women and bring various and comprehensive criticisms. The theories that put women in focus and made plans and produced thoughts on how the situation of women should be improved in every sense have been in an effort to give women an identity like men. Feminist theories, which can bring together individuals / communities of different views and unite them in a common denominator, have experienced some changes / developments over time, both in the national and international arena. This study analyzed the reflections of women's identity in the social sphere, the concept of feminism and feminist theories from the perspective of historical geography.
