Hadisler sened ve metinden oluşmaktadır. Hadislerin sadece isnâdına bakılarak hüküm verilmez. Herhangi bir haberin sıhhat hükmünü kazanabilmesi için sened ve metin açısından kusur addedilecek ithamlardan arınmış olması gerekir. Bu itibarla bir metnin sıhhat hükmünü kazanabilmesi için senedinde yer alan râvilerin âdil ve sika; senedinin de muttasıl olması gerekir. Ayrıca rivayetin sened ve metninde şuzûz ve illet gibi sıhhatine zarar verecek bir hususun olmaması da gerekmektedir. Bu şartları taşımayan hadisler zayıf olup birçok alt başlıkta değerlendirilmektedir. İslâm’ın esas kaynaklarından olan hadislerle alakalı çalışmalar yapan bazı araştırmacılar, isnâtta yer alan râvilerin muhaddisler tarafından tenkit süzgecinden geçirildiğini ancak aynı hassasiyetin metin için gösterilmediğini iddia etmektedirler. Bu iddianın doğru olup olmadığını İbn Abbâs’tan mervî olan bir haber üzerinden değerlendireceğiz. Nitekim senedi sahih olduğu halde metni sahih kabul edilmeyen ve birden fazla âlemin varlığını ifade eden söz konusu rivayette, metin birçok yönden ele alınmıştır. Ayrıca bu çalışmada bu rivayetten hareketle şâz hadisin tanımı ve hükmü kısaca ele alınacaktır. Rivayetin metinsel sorunları, Kur’ân’a arz gibi birkaç açıdan değerlendirmeye tabi tutulacaktır. Haber-i vâhid’in itikadî meselelere konu olup olmayacağı bu hadis özelinde irdelenecektir.
