Bu çalışmanın konusu, Türk çağdaşlaşma tarihinde özel bir yeri olan Atatürk döneminde, Türk kadınına yönelik gelişmelerin Amerikan basınında ne şekilde yer bulduğunu incelemektir. Amerika Birleşik Devletleri (ABD), gelişkin basın örgütüne ve dünya genelinde hızla artan bir etkiye sahip olması nedeniyle Türkiye’deki çağdaşlaşma hareketine ilgi duymuş ve gelişmeleri okuyucuyla buluşturabilmiştir. Böylece gerçekleşen çalışma için ortaya önemli veriler çıkmıştır. Buradan yola çıkarak amaçlanan, Türk çağdaşlaşmasının dünyadaki önemli ülkelerden bir tanesi olan ABD tarafından nasıl izlendiği tespit edebilmek ve bu hareketin dünyadaki karşılığının nasıl olduğunu -ABD özelinde bir kesit sunarak- okuyucuyla paylaşabilmektir. Çalışmanın temel kaynaklarını ABD’de ulusal düzeyde yayın yapan ve günümüzde de tanınırlığı yüksek süreli yayınlar oluşturacaktır. Bunun yanı sıra konuyla ilgili olan basılı diğer kaynaklardan da yararlanılacaktır.
The subject of this study is to explore how the developments towards the Turkish woman in the Atatürk period, which was a special place in the history of Turkish modernization, took place in the American press. The United States (US) has been interested in the modernization movement in Turkey and has been able to meet the developments with the reader due to its rapidly growing influence on the emerging press organization and worldwide. There are important data for the work that has been done. The aim of starting from here is to be able to identify how the Turkish modernization is followed by the United States, one of the important countries in the world, and to be able to share with the reader how the reward of this movement in the world is - by offering a cut in the US-specific. The main sources of the study will be publication at the U.S. national level and will create high-term publications that are well-known today. In addition to this, the press will also be used from other sources related to the subject.
