Background: While it is defined as "cyberloafing" by using corporate computers and internet facilities for personal purposes during working hours, bringing task to the home and working outside of working hours is interpreted as "unfinished work". Objectives: It was aimed to determine the situations of academicians' cyberloafing and academic purposes at home, and to identify their characteristics that make significant difference among these concepts. Methods: The study was conducted with academicians in the faculty of nursing of a public university in Istanbul. The data was gathered with the Cyberloafing Scale and Home Working Behavior Form for Academicians. Ethical committee approval, institutional permission and informed consent of the participants were taken in order to carry out study. Psychometric, descriptive and comparative analyzes were used in the analysis of the data. Results: Participants have a higher mean score in the "important cyberloafing subscale" in the cyberloafing scale and the "indirect academic study subscale” in the home working behavior form for the academicians. Age of participants, working time in the institution, marital status, academic position, employment status and membership status in social networks make significant differences in “cyberloafing behaviors”. However, at only the “direct academic work subscale” age, working time in the institution, academic positions and employment status makes a significant difference. Conclusion: While a large majority of academicians are carrying out activities that are not related to their work during working hours while they are carrying out business-related activities at home; it can be said that the activities of cyberloafing and home working behavior are influenced by the age, experience and academic position.
