Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to examine teachers' depression, anxiety, stress levels and attitudes towards receiving psychological help in terms of various variables (gender, age, marital status, previous psychological help. In order to collect the data of the study, Personal Information Form, Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS 21), Attitudes Toward Seeking Professional Psychological Help Scale-Short Form (ATSPPHS-SF) were used. Independent samples t-Test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Pearson product moment correlation were used for the analysis of the data obtained from the scales. Based on the results, teachers' attitude scores towards receiving psychological help show a statistically significant difference compared to the status of receiving psychological help before. It has been observed that teachers who have received psychological help before have a more positive view of receiving psychological help. A significant variable was also found for attitudes towards receiving psychological help towards gender. Female teachers have more positive attitudes about receiving psychological help than male teachers. Depression scores in teachers do not differ statistically significantly according to gender, seniority, and marital status. One of the most striking findings of the study is that the teachers participating in the study had moderate levels of anxiety and depression and mild stress. Therefore, it is recommended that studies to improve the mental health of teachers be carried out immediately. The study findings were discussed in the light of the prior scholarly works.
