Abstract:

Objective: The study was carried out in a semi-experimental pre-test-final test control group design with the aim of determining the influence of education on mental illnesses given to adolescents on the belief of mental illnesses and social distances of adolescents. READ AND METHOD: The research was carried out in the spring semester of the 2014-2015 academic year in the four high schools associated with the National Education Directorate in a district in the west. In order to identify the students to be taken to study; 727 high school students who studied in the district have been applied to the Mental Disease Faith Scale (RHYÖ) and 154 students with high scale scores have been conducted. According to the simple random random sampling method, the 154 students were divided into two groups, including 78 initiative and 76 control groups. The initiative group was known to have contributed positively to the training of mental illnesses by watching the films "Mental Games" and "We, you, they" and a class of ten hours a week consisting of two lessons and a marking training on mental illnesses that was discussed and discussed. The initiative and control group has been applied for the survey, RHYÖ and Social Distance Scales before and a month after the completion of the training. For ethical reasons, the same training given to the entrepreneurial group was given to the control group and to students who wish to participate in the training in the form of a session. RELATED: It has been found that printing education has changed students in a positive direction to the overall scale and social distances towards mental illness, which are the low-scale of RHYIO: Dangerousness, Shame, Disappointment and Interpersonal Relationships (RHYIO: T=2,20, p<0,05; t=3,12, p<0,05; t=2,01, p<0,05; t=2,22, p<0,05; t=2,24, p<0,05). There has been no change in the total scale and social distance scales for mental illness, which are the low scales of the students who have not been trained in the RHYIO, Risk, Shame, Disappointment and Interpersonal Relationships (RHYIO; T=1,18, P>0,05; T=0,88, P>0,05; T=-0,84, P>0,05; T=-0,82, P>0,05; T=1,79, P>0,05). Results: Drilling education has been found that students have changed the overall scale score and social distance score for mental illnesses in a positive direction, which is the low scale of Danger, Shame, Disappointment and Interpersonal Relationships. Mental health workers are advised to work with teachers in schools to train mental illnesses to increase awareness of mental illnesses and reduce signs.
