ALZHEİMER VE VASKÜLER DEMANSLI HASTALARDA LİPİD PROFİLİ İLE YAĞDA ERİYEN VİTAMİNLERİN DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ The Evaluation Of Fat Soluble Vitamins and Lipids Among Patients With Alzheimer and Vascular Dementia

Material and Methods: Sixty AD patients and 52 VaD patients who were diagnosed according to international criteria and 61 control cases whose ages and sexes were compatible in general were taken to the study. Serum lipid profiles and fat soluble vitamin levels (vitamin D and vitamin K) were studied. Results: Serum vitamin D values at the AD and VaD patient groups was found significantly lower than the control group (p = 0.001). No significant difference was determined with vitamin K values. When the lipid profiles of the groups were analyzed, total cholesterol values were determined significantly higher at the two patient groups than the control group (p = 0.001). Moreover, a significantly negative relationship between total cholesterol and vitamin D was observed at the control group (p < 0.005). No relationship in patient groups for vitamin D and in all groups for vitamin K was found. No difference between the patient groups and control groups in terms of high density lipoprotein, triglyceride and low density lipoprotein values was found. Conclusion: This study is showed that Vitamin D deficiency and high total cholesterol are associated with AD and VaD disease. There is no difference between these two dementia types in terms of these parameters. Moreover, the inverse relation determined between vitamin D and total cholesterol at healthy control cases is not observed at the dementia patients. All these suggests that a detailed analysis of the relation between vitamin D and total cholesterol and dementia will be useful. Keywords: Alzheimer Vascular Dementia Vitamin D K Lipids.

Özet:

The aim of this study is to study the relationship between serum lipid levels and fat-solved vitamin levels with dementia in patients with Alzheimer’s dementia (AD) and vascular dementia (VaD). Tools and Methods: The study was diagnosed according to international criteria in 60 AD, 52 VD patients and 61 cases of control were taken. Serum lipid profiles and vitamin levels (D, K) erased in fat were studied. Results: Serum vitamin D values were found lower in AD and VaD patients groups, compared to the control group. There is no significant difference in vitamin K. When the lipid profiles of the groups were studied, the total cholesterol (TC) values were higher than the control group in both groups of patients. In the control group, a negative relationship between TK and vitamin D was observed. There was no connection between vitamin D and lipids in the patient groups and between vitamin K and lipids in all groups. There was no difference between the patient groups and the control group in terms of high dancite lipoprotein (HDL), triglyceride (TG) and low dancite lipoprotein (LDL) values. The result: Vitamin D deficiency and TK height are associated with AD and VaD disease. There is no difference between these two types of dementia in terms of these parameters. In healthy cases, the reverse relationship between vitamin D and TK has not been observed in dementia patients. Our data shows that in dementia patients, a more detailed study of the relationship between vitamin D and TK is needed.
