Abstract:

The epic is the most monumental folklore monument, reflecting the historical way of life of the people, its existence and struggle for life. Through these examples the peoples self-affirmation, heroism, friend and foe artistically pass on to the next generation, calls them to be vigilant, to learn from experience, to be united, to be faithful, to persevere, to love. The epic “Dede Korkut” is one of such works of art formed on the basis of historical events. This epic, which was written over a period of time and became a “book”, preserves very valuable information about the history of our people, one of which is expressed in the section (Boy) “Bakil oghlu Emran”. The events described here, dedicated to the protection of the homeland of Oghuz heroes from enemy attacks, cover the history of our people in the VII century. Little information about the war of the Oghuzs, who are considered to be our great ancestors, with the Georgians, reflected in historical sources, is given in a poetic way in this context. The article comments on this on the basis of specific linguistic facts and clarifies some controversial points, citing the historical memory of our people living in the language.
