Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the seroprevalence of Dirofilaria immitis, Ehrlichia canis, Borrelia burgdorferi and Anaplasma spp in dogs in the area of Erzurum. The study material was made by 250 (140 female and 110 male) dogs in the area of Erzurum. Blood samples were tested using an immunochromatographic analysis test kit against D. immitis antigen, Anaplasma spp, B. burgdorferi and E. canis to determine the presence of antibodies in a qualitative way. Finally, the existence of antibodies against B. burgdorferi and E. canis was not determined. Anaplasma spp.The antibodies against D. immitis and the presence of antigen against D. immitis were determined in 2 of 250 dogs (0.8%) and 11 of 250 dogs (4.4%) respectively. When the presence of antigen against Dirofilaria immitis was determined by age, the highest positivity was found in the age group of 3 July (8%) and the age difference was not significant (February 0.05). The presence of antigen against Diroflaria immitis was determined in 7.3 percent of male dogs and 1.2 percent of female dogs (P≤0.5). Also, the presence of antigen against D. immitis was determined that the highest positivity (25%) was found in Husky breed dogs, and the interracial difference was significant (P≤0.05). According to the data obtained from this study, some vector-related diseases, such as Anaplasmosis and Dirofilariosis, were found in dogs in Erzurum, and protective and control measures should be taken to eradicate these diseases.
