Abstract:

Simone de Beauvoir, in her work The Second Sex, argues that women are often complicit in reinforcing their own unfreedom. The woman actually becomes an accomplice in this position that prevents to be free. But reading just Beauvoir’s defense cannot adequately account how the women became complicit and why women sustain stay here. Rather than reading Beauvoir with Sartre and Hegel, it has been seen that reading Beauvoir with Heidegger can provide important insights into the subordination of women. The aim of this article is to reveal Beauvoir's claim of complicity by reading together with Heidegger's philosophy of Being and to show that a language of its own and consciousness related to this language can save women from complicity in the field of 'Mitsein'. In this context, it is thought that reading and synthesizing the thoughts of Beauvoir and Heidegger together will contribute to the literature in terms of revealing the condition of the possibility of women's existence.
