Özet:

The fear of birth can be seen in most of the women because of several reasons. There are different reasons of childbirth fear such as biological, sociological, psychological or secondary. Also, 5 percent of women have childbirth fear. And there are physiological and psychological consequences of unresolved fear of birth. Women who lack emotional support isolate themselves from the decisions they should make during pregnancy. They face problems about postpartum sexuality, depression, and maternal attachment. The reason of c-section is childbirth fear. 74.5 percent of women in Turkey need to social support. In this study, Google Scholar and PubMed were used for literature review. Just articles between 1997 and 2017 were included in the study. Pilot research was performed in a government hospital. 30 pregnants in research answered the question of WIJMA Scale (A Version). Likert-type questions in the personal information form that determines the level of percieved social support were used. During the study, it is seen that there is a negative correlation between the fear of birth and support by spouses, relatives and doctors. There are several scales about social support and childbirth fear in Turkey. After the literature review, it is realized that the effects of the support to the pregnant women and should be studied more. The mediation of birth psychotherapist between spouses, relatives and doctors, and the effects of this mediation should be studied more. There should be a new specific scale for pregnant women in order to measure their percieved support during pregnancy.
